Outsiders: Bongo Joe Records w/ Cocanha & David Mamie
Cocanha are at the forefront of a new generation of French artists who have been breathing new life into French folk, or ‘trad’ and with Flame Folclòre, their third album, Caroline Dufau and Lila Fraysse have made their most radical and most personal statement yet.
The duo sing in Occitan, the language the French state has long sought to erase, and drawing on the activism of groups labelled 'ecoterrorists' by the French government. Dufau and Fraysse composed and wrote part of the songs, whose starting point was a fragment, a testimony, an archive, and a cadence from traditional repertoire. The old texts and melodies are still there, still sung.
A collaborative 2h mix hand in hand with David Mamie who designed and hand drew their new album's cover.
