"This month, I wanted to put together a special programme dedicated to early 20th-century British composers such as William Walton, Frank Bridge, Gustav Holst, and Arthur Bliss. Their music is incredibly inventive yet remains far too rarely performed and appreciated today.
At the same time, I've recently come across a number of inspiring projects that explore intersections between classical music and more contemporary forms.
From DJ Spooky and Kronos Quartet's work on American history and musical heritage, to Clipping.'s collaborations with experimental composers, or the boundary-pushing jazz of Jaimie Branch and Christian Scott, these encounters have sparked an interest in tracing unexpected connections between classical traditions and newer musical languages."
