Outsiders: Kanal w/ Valentina Magaletti
KANAL welcomes Valentina Magaletti with Breath Index, an assemblage of fragments, breaths, and edits that act as connective tissue between tracks and sounds. What might begin as a conventional list of pieces is quickly cut, chopped, and revisited, as Magaletti reshapes the material through rhythm and proximity. She approaches radio as an expanded percussion instrument, where breath becomes both pulse and carrier, circulating through brass, voice, electronics, and archival traces.
Conceived as a porous sound composition, the mix draws on Fluxus-inflected ideas of process, contingency, and transmission, where authorship begins to dissolve. The selection moves from the near-silence of Salvatore Sciarrino to the ritual intensity of Evelyn Glennie’s Warrior’s Chant, passing through the fractured vocal textures of Klein — tracing a sonic field where air becomes vibration and listening becomes an almost tactile act.
