certain lives presents "oceanic feeling"

Moving between the sounds of waves lapping rocks, sand crinkling under footsteps, the creaking of iron gates, and fireworks exploding far away, "oceanic feeling" places field recordings gathered around New York's Fort Tilden in a world of glitching drums, fragmented piano, and low-end memories. An Army Outpost during World War I and World War II and Army Reserve operation until the late 1970s, Fort Tilden was turned over to the National Park Service in the early 1980s. Throughout the 20th and 21st century, queer pleasure seekers have turned to the Fort and its surrounding dunes as a place to throw parties and cruise for casual sex. This sonic exploration of Fort Tilden combines ambient, dub, and techno to meditate on the entanglements of American militarism and queer pleasure.
