Yodeling, a way of singing we had heard of, but never really listened to. A vocal technique that has been travelling across the world for centuries, finding its way into various genres. Bart Plantenga wrote this about the life-saving yodel of Harry Torrani: “In fact, a yodel so pure and high that it once saved the life of friend Mercedes Gleitze, the first female to swim the English Channel. When a ship’s foghorn failed, Torrani stepped up and guided her through a pea-soup-thick fog with his yodeling.” For the past few months, we have been looking into the world of yodeling and made a collection of songs we would like to share with you.
