For this Kiosk Radio show, we invite you to dive into Tarwaysin: the great female voices of the Rrways tradition from Souss, Morocco. Drawn from cassettes in Badr's personal collection, this selection highlights Amazigh singers and poetesses who shaped the Tachelhit repertoire. Their songs speak of love, separation, everyday life, memory, dignity, and women’s place in society. This show is part of our ongoing work with Moroccan cassette archives: finding, listening to, preserving, and bringing back into circulation music that is often absent from official histories. Tarwaysin are powerful, popular voices, deeply connected to the musical memory of Souss.
